Lancashire Knock Out Cup 2018

Lancashire Knock Out Cup 2018

Lancashire Knock Out Cup 2018

This Sunday will see the Lancashire Knock Out Cup take centre stage as 26 ties take place across the county.

All interesting ties in different ways and a chance for many clubs and players to visit new grounds, with one of the more intriguing games being Formby CC, who are the early pace setters in the Liverpool Competition, travelling across county, possibly without the county players who have been on show in the league, to take on Walsden CC - who seem to have settled in well to life in the new look Lancashire League.

Garstang CC, who were promoted from the Palace Shield to the Northern League last season, play host to Penrith CC also from the Northern League and are hoping to maintain their good start to the season.

2016 winners, Denton West CC will be looking to progress past Firwood Bootle CC (2015 Winners) and gain some revenge for the heavy defeat suffered in one of last year’s early rounds. While Norley Hall CC of the Southport & District Amateur Cricket League make the trip to the seaside and will enjoy the warm welcome they will receive at the County Ground, Blackpool. Could this be the shock of the first round?

Two ties that will not be taking place are at Great Eccleston CC who have conceded to last year’s joint winners Lowerhouse CC, who now await the winner of the Rochdale CC and Bradshaw CC tie, and the other being at Roe Green CC as Vernon Carus CC have conceded the fixture.

Clinton Perren, Head of Cricket Relationships said, "With so many exciting changes throughout the cricketing landscape, we eagerly anticipate this year’s Lancashire Knock Out Cup, the pinnacle of League Cricket throughout Lancashire.

"Based on early season league form and with a wealth of talent on show, it’s sure to be a fiercely contested competition, with every club vying for the coveted and prestigious title of being the best club side in Lancashire.  Let’s hope the warm weather continues and the best of luck to all teams this weekend.”
