Manchester's business leaders going into bat again for the cities homeless

Business leaders and executives from across Manchester are set to unite, sleeping outdoors side-by-side with their peers to raise funds for charities and projects to help fight poverty and homelessness in the city.

On 15 October 2018, Manchester’s business community are being invited to set up their beds for the night in the stands at Emirates Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire Cricket, in a bid to smash the whopping £115,000 fundraising figure achieved by Newcastle’s executives at St James' Park earlier this year.

Among those taking part in the city’s effort is fashion brand Boohoo.com's Business Intelligence Analyst, Jenna Bowyer. As she gears up to spend a night outside, she hopes the CEO Sleepout will shine a light on the generosity and will of the business community to make a difference.

She said, "As someone who has live experience of street homelessness I can testify to the difference these charities make to vulnerable people. The number of people who are homeless in Manchester is a real shame for our city, so it is something we are aiming to eradicate. Although we won't come close to experiencing true homelessness, I'm positive that the business community coming together giving up their home comforts for one night to raise awareness and funds is one way we can make a real difference."

Bianca Robinson from CEO Sleepout UK commented, “CEO Sleepout UK is delighted to be working with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation and Manchester business community again following last year’s successful event. By engaging the executives across Manchester and the North West we aim to raise funds to help fight poverty and homelessness in Manchester”.

Sandy Mitchell from the Lancashire Cricket Foundation added, “This is a great opportunity to raise people’s awareness of homelessness in Manchester and by partnering up with CEO Sleepout UK again we believe we can better the 2016 & 2017 events and help to raise significant funds for charities that support those in need day in and day out”.
