ICC Cricket World Cup Champions 2019

In arguably the greatest cricket match ever played, England were crowned the World Champions by the finest of margins. Having been set a target of 241 by New Zealand, England looked down and out at 86-4 before Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler fought back to give England a fighting chance.

It wasn’t straightforward and required more than just a slice of luck for England to force a tie, and therefore a super over. After 12 more excruciating balls and a run out on the last ball, the scores were still tied and England were declared champions by virtue of hitting more boundaries than New Zealand.

If you have been inspired by the Cricket World Cup, then the Lancashire Cricket Foundation would like to encourage you to get in touch with your local cricket club.

Find your local club, here.

The ECB also run the All Stars Cricket programme which is their entry level participation programme, aimed at providing children aged five to eight with a great first experience in cricket.

The ECB are running All Stars ‘Have a Go’ sessions through the summer to give kids who have been inspired by the World Cup a chance to play. There are 12 centres across Lancashire delivering these. You can sign up for here.
