Lets Be Women

Lets Be Women

In June 2016 two of our colleagues went over to Kenya working in partnership with Cricket without Boundaries and FGM charity 28 too many, Cricket Kenya and the Maasia Cricket Warriors. The project focused its work on addressing the serious problem of FGM amongst the Maasia community where 3 in 4 girls are currently cut. This was done using the power of cricket and putting social messages into fun games.

Following on from Kenya we have continued to work alongside Cricket without Boundaries to design a 6 week project that uses the power of cricket to tackle issues young women might come across in their lives and communities.

The 6 week programme will be delivered in secondary schools to girls in Trafford to empower young women using cricket coaching and fun games to have the confidence to work together, tackle and speak out about issues they might face to eventually lead in their communities.  These sessions started on the 26th January 2017.

Each session will look at social messages that will be tied into Cricket through, identifying roles, choice of roles, speaking and working together as a team, challenges we face and the speaking up to be what we want to be.

You can support the campaign by donating via the link below and also raise awareness via social media. Help put an end to FGM. #EndFGM
