Historic Soft Ball Cricket Leagues kick off in Lancashire
Four leagues get underway across the county
History was made this weekend as four Women and Girls Soft Ball Cricket Leagues got underway in Lancashire - with three brand new established leagues for this year, featuring 11 new teams.
Over 150 women, all new to formalised cricket, took part across 20 teams in matches held at Maghull CC, Heywood CC, Ribblesdale Wanderers and New Longton CC.
Lancashire's first all South Asian Women's team - Bee United Women's CC - made their debut too.
The first of five planned festival weekends of matches, running throughout the summer, were played in great spirit with huge enthusiasm for the game.
The next set of fixtures are set to take place on Sunday 2 June.
