Seventh annual Schools Open Day coming to Emirates Old Trafford

Club to open gates to 39 schools for Day Three of Championship clash

Lancashire Cricket is set to welcome 1,500 school children through the gates of Emirates Old Trafford for the Club’s seventh annual Schools Open Day.

On Wednesday 22 May, Day Three of Lancashire’s Specsavers County Championship match against Worcestershire, pupils and teachers from 39 schools around the county are invited to enjoy the experience of First-Class cricket inside an international venue.

Alongside the cricket, a specially created activity zone will be set up around the stadium with support uniformed-services including the RAF, Police and Fire Service, who will be providing vehicles and entertainment.

Pupils from St Barnabas CE Primary School in Darwen will be out on the field at the start of play to welcome Dane Vilas and the Lancashire team onto the pitch.

During the lunch break a Mascot Race will take place, while Loreto High School pupils from the Girls Without Boundaries programme will also be performing a dance routine.

Sandy Mitchell, Head of Community Growth for the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming 39 schools to Emirates Old Trafford for the seventh edition of this annual mass participation event.

“The day combines the best of the on-field cricket action with several fun-themed, physical and educational activities which are all designed to highlight everything that both the Club and the Lancashire Cricket Foundation has to offer.”
