Throughout September, we're celebrating #WomensCricketMonth by profiling a series of clubs across Lancashire who are currently hosting women's and girls' cricket activity... next, we take a look into St Annes Cricket Club
St Annes Cricket Club
Current women's and girls' offering at your club: One women's and girls' Hardball team and Under 9 to Under 13 girls Softball group
Established women's and girls' set-up since: The club's W&G Hardball cricket team formed in 2016 and since then has competed in the 40 over and T20 hardball competitions
Their Under 9 to Under 13 Softball was born as a progression pathway from All Stars Cricket, specifically for girls, to encourage more girls to take up the sport and increase participation. In January, St Annes began offering girls indoor Softball sessions - a free taster session followed by eight weeks of cricket fun. COVID-19 halted their plans but they have resumed with weekly outdoor sessions in August and are delighted that they now have a squad of 13 girls from absolute beginners, keen to continue their cricket journeys

- W&G Hardball Captain: Sophie Gunston
- Hardball Coach: Tom Higson
- Soft Ball Coaches: Bernie Bradley (also representing W&G cricket on the Committee), Matt Charles and Mark Sergeant
- Three female qualified ECB Level 1 coaches: Bernie Bradley (Softball), Sophie Gunston and Beth Butler (both Hardball) in their coaching set-up
Goals for next season: Next season the club are aiming to expand their Hardball squad, form a junior girls Softball team, provide progression pathways for girls into their existing Hardball junior teams and to continue to fundraise
How to get in touch and give cricket a go?: Indoor training will resume in Jan/Feb 2021 - dates and times to be confirmed - these will be announced on their website and social media pages nearer to the time
