Double success for Team Blackburn

The Chance to Shine Street National Finals were held in Nottingham yesterday with Lancashire represented by Blackburn in the Under 15’s and the Under 12’s age group.

The Under 15’s finished second in their group before advancing into the final where they met Leeds. Although it was a close encounter, Blackburn came out on top to secure victory and clinch the national title.

Meanwhile, the Under 12’s were also going very well and managed to top their group before progressing into the final against Nottingham. Once again, Team Blackburn showed a lot of character to win the match and complete a memorable double for Lancashire on the day.

Farouk Hussain who has helped develop the two teams for over a year was understandably proud of the achievements and said, “It was an incredible achievement from the boys that's fully deserved for the commitment they have shown in attending weekly sessions over the last 12 months. The passion and desire to win was clear for all to see. It meant everything to those boys.”

Hussain added, “For many it's their first taste of competitive cricket and they withstood the intense pressure and showed great character. It is something they will remember for the rest of their lives."

There was also a special appearance from New Zealand international cricketer Colin Munro at the National Finals who got involved and gave some tips.
