Trafford Leadership Academy Graduation

The Trafford Leadership Academy graduation ceremony took place today at Emirates Old Trafford. 

Over 100 schoolchildren were present at the ceremony and were all graduating from the academy which aims to support young people to gain practical leadership skills.

The schools were asked at the end of the 2020/21 academic year to identify four Year 4 students who they thought would relish and thrive in the role of sports leader at their school. During school time the children, amongst other activities, were tasked with designing, planning and delivering an enjoyable 10-minute activity for a group of 12 children.

The children also presented a portfolio of their work at the graduation, along with a special visit from club mascot Lanky.

Schools from all over Greater Manchester and further were involved, including, Acre Hall, Altrincham CE, Barton Clough, Broadheath, Brooklands, Cloverlea, Delamere, English Martyrs, Gorse Hill, Heyes Lane, Moss Park, Navigation, Oldfield Brow, Old Trafford Comminity Academy, Our Lady of the Rosary, Park Road Academy, St Marys Davyhulme. St Marys Sale, St Teresa’s, St Vincent’s, Tyntesfield, Willows and Woodheys.

In conjunction with the Trafford School Sports Partnership, the Lancashire Cricket Foundation helped run the academy and today was the day that the children had been waiting for as they were recognised for their achievements with a graduation certificate, pin badge and a a T-shirt, to mark the fact they have completed all the necessary tasks.
