Lancashire Cricket Foundation Engages 148 Teachers Through Cricket for Teachers Programme
The Lancashire Cricket Foundation has successfully engaged 148 teachers and education staff through its growing Cricket for Teachers programme, continuing its commitment to supporting schools across the county with high-quality cricket education and delivery.
Throughout March and April, the LCF delivered eight CPD courses, including four Primary Cricket CPD sessions held across the north, south, east and west of Lancashire, two university-based courses, and two Secondary Cricket CPD courses. Each three-hour session was designed to upskill PE staff and equip them with the confidence, knowledge and resources to deliver fun, safe and inclusive cricket activities back in their schools.
The primary school CPD programme, funded by Chance to Shine, has now entered its fourth year and continues to grow in popularity and engagement. The sessions provide teachers with practical ideas, game-based learning approaches and accessible activities that help make cricket enjoyable for all pupils, regardless of experience or ability.
Alongside the primary offer, Lancashire Cricket Foundation also delivered secondary-focused CPD courses funded by the ECB as part of the national strategy to increase cricket opportunities within secondary schools. A key focus for Lancashire Cricket Foundation was engaging schools looking to develop girls’ cricket programmes ahead of the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2026 and each schools received a free kit-bag!
By supporting teachers directly, the programme aims to create sustainable opportunities for young people to access cricket within their school environment while helping schools feel more confident in delivering the sport as part of their PE curriculum and extracurricular offer.
Feedback from attendees has highlighted the positive impact of the sessions and the practical value teachers take back into their schools:
“The facilitators were amazing! Fun afternoon, with lots of practical ideas to take away and ready to use resources for our curriculum. The cards are fantastic and we have already put them to use with our sports leaders.”
“Excellent workshop, fun engaging and extremely informative with some excellent resources.”
The continued success of the Cricket for Teachers programme reflects Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s commitment to growing the game at grassroots level and ensuring more young people across the county have the opportunity to experience cricket in an inclusive and engaging way.
The Lancashire Cricket Foundation would like to thank Chance to Shine and the ECB for their continued support in helping us deliver these valuable CPD opportunities across the county. We also extend our thanks to every teacher, trainee and education professional who attended the sessions and continues to inspire the next generation through cricket in schools.
