Leyland CC and Lindow CC Set for Thunder Cup Final
The Thunder Cup final line-up is now confirmed, Leyland CC and Lindow CC securing their places after semi final victories.
Leyland CC V Ramsbottom CC
After winning the toss and electing to field, Leyland produced a disciplined display with the ball to restrict Ramsbottom to 207 all out. Scarlett Anderson top-scored with an impressive 69, while Deepa Chukkapalli added a valuable 36 as Ramsbottom built a competitive total. However, Leyland never allowed their opponents to gain complete control, with Summer Carrington leading the attack with 3 for 40. Lowri Whittaker impressed with figures of 2 for 12, while Olivia Cunliffe also claimed two late wickets to ensure Ramsbottom were bowled out in the 44th over.
Leyland's response was outstanding from the outset. Olivia Cunliffe played the match-defining innings, blasting 85 from just 71 balls, including 13 fours and a six. Alongside her, Katie Poole anchored the chase superbly with 62 from 101 deliveries as the pair shared a commanding opening partnership of 141. Their platform allowed Leyland to chase the target comfortably, with Summer Carrington finishing unbeaten on 28 as they reached 208 for 3 in just 33.4 overs.
It was a complete performance from Leyland, combining disciplined bowling with a clinical batting display to seal a deserved place in the Thunder Cup Final.
Lindow CC v Stockport Georgians CC
Lindow CC complete the Thunder Cup Final line-up after defeating Stockport Georgians by 59 runs in another impressive all-round performance.
After loosing the toss and being asked to bat first, Lindow recovered well from an early wicket thanks to an excellent partnership between Heidi Cheadle and Grace Hemsted. Cheadle struck a superb 80 from 72 balls, hitting 13 fours and a six, while Hemsted added a fluent 38 as Lindow built the foundations for a competitive total. Holly Topp also contributed 21 before Lindow were eventually dismissed for 194.
Stockport fought back admirably with the ball, led by Amelie Batey's outstanding spell of 5 for 27, while Flo Batey claimed two wickets and Neve Boon bowled an exceptionally economical five-over spell that conceded just six runs.
In reply, Emily Thomas anchored Stockport's innings with a determined half-century, but regular wickets prevented the chase from gathering momentum. Grace Hemsted completed an excellent all-round performance with figures of 3 for 16, while Claire Ashworth, Faye Smith and Ivy Floyd each claimed two wickets as Stockport were bowled out for 135, handing Lindow a convincing 59-run victory.
Thunder Cup Final Preview
Attention now turns to the Thunder Cup Final, where Leyland and Lindow will meet on Sunday 13 September at AO Farington Cricket Ground.
Both sides arrive in excellent form after impressive semi-final victories. Whilst both teams also topped their groups. With silverware on the line and two evenly matched sides set to go head-to-head, supporters can look forward to a high-quality final as the 2026 Thunder Cup reaches its conclusion.
