The Quest league commenced the following week as Wales made the journey north to Firwood Bootle CC. Overnight rain meant that the game was delayed and both sides allocated 36 overs to bat, Wales winning the toss elected to field and picked up the wicket of Finneran in the 7th Over with the score on 34.
Tom Meskell picked up where he left off last season with 54 and Danny Graham continued his fine start to County Cricket with an unbeaten 76.
Rory McIntyre showed he isn’t just included in the team to sit on the bench with his pads on hit 52 to support Graham and Jimmy Dixon pushed the target along at the end to 237/4
Things started well in the field as Wales slipped to 2-0 off the first 2 overs, a wicket for sir Jimmy and a runout by Tyler Preece
Michael Weatherby hit 50 for the visitors as they were all out for 90, Tom Meskell, Lewis Duncan-Brown and Thomas Wilson all picking up 2 wickets.
Sunday we made the trip to Grappenhall CC to take on neighbours Cheshire, on a rain affected day Lancs won the toss and invited the host to bat first, knowing the possibility of rain would alter the target score
With Josh Brown and Max Griffin at the crease the hosts made a positive start before the introduction of Left Arm Seamer Matty Tamburro, he picked up 3 wickets to leave the hosts 37/3.
Tom Meskell claimed 4 wickets from his 8 overs and Lewis Duncan-Brown 3 wickets as Cheshire were eventually bowled out for 108.
Cheshire started the second innings with a similar positivity to the first removing Collinge with just 4 runs on the board.
Promoted to open due to a injury to Finneran, Jimmy Dixon (26*)and Tom Meskell (27*) rode out the storm before the rains came in for the 2nd time in the afternoon and brought the game to an early
Conclusion, Lancashire winning by 9 wickets claiming a score that by the time the pitch was fit to restart would be superior to the revised target through DLS.
