Lancashire Cricket Development Centre Stages 1 - 5

  • Stage 1

    Key Stage 1 and 2 with a focus on enjoyment, fun and development. An introduction to cricket with softball games, skills, and challenges.

    This stage is for those starting their journey with cricket, those wishing to stick with softball or those simply wanting to have fun. Open to both boys and girls, no experience of cricket needed. All equipment will be provided.

  • Stage 2

    Key Stage 1 and 2 with a focus on enjoyment, fun and development in a more competitive environment. An introduction to incrediball pairs cricket, and dynamos competition with a structure to allow progression onto hardball courses in the future.

    This stage is for those progressing from Stage 1 and those wishing to stick with softball in a more competitive environment. Open to both boys and girls, limited experience of cricket needed. All equipment will be provided.

  • Stage 3

    Boys - School Years 5, 6, 7 / Girls - School Years 5, 6*

    Focus on enjoyment, fun and development. A hardball transition course exploring the fundamentals of the game, using a hardball in net environments and fun games to develop tactical awareness.

    This stage is for those who have completed the Stage 2 course and wish to progress from softball to hardball, those with experience of hardball at club or school and those who simply want to continue to develop their fundamental skills.

    Courses split on gender to allow appropriate stage development and enjoyment within peer groups.

    *Players must bring their own helmet, pads and other cricket equipment to sessions as we cannot allow the sharing or borrowing of equipment.

  • Stage 4

    Boys - School Years 5, 6, 7, 8 / Girls - School Years 5, 6, 7, 8

    Foundation Phase, building on strong foundations, we will look to maximise the cricketer’s opportunity to improve their skills across all areas of the game. A focus on development of core skills with a high level of support and fun challenges. Opportunity to explore skills, begin to test them under pressure and develop further understanding on the wider game.

    This stage is for those completing stage 3, for boys that have played interleague cricket previously and for girls who are experienced hardball players, and/or county experience at u11s.

    *Players must bring their own helmet, pads and other cricket equipment to sessions as we cannot allow the sharing or borrowing of equipment.

  • Stage 5

    Creativity and Exploration Phase. Continuation of skill development, whilst introducing more tactical/ decision making elements into practiceA focus on refining core skills, expanding knowledge base and understanding of own game along with leadership and additional skills. Challenging the basics at pace and under pressure a theme throughout.

    This stage is for boys that have played Interleague or County Age Group (Performance or Development) cricket previously, and who have been part of County Age Group Performance or Development Squads and aspire to improve their game. This stage is not for those players selected in County Age Groups Performance Squads at u13, u14 and u15.

    *Players must bring their own helmet, pads and other cricket equipment to sessions as we cannot allow the sharing or borrowing of equipment.
