The Living Room

Lancashire Cricket Foundation to open the ‘Living Room’ warm space at Emirates Old Trafford

Lancashire Cricket and its Foundation are working together to tackle some of the cost-of-living challenges facing the local community this winter.

The Club will be opening the doors of Emirates Old Trafford to the local community during the first part of 2023 to help those facing difficult months ahead as part of the Club’s community programme.

With energy bills rising and temperatures dropping the Lancashire Cricket Foundation are opening the Living Room at Emirates Old Trafford to provide those in need a warm space this winter.

The free Living Room offers local people a friendly place with unlimited internet access, hot drinks, and tables and chairs and will offer a comfortable environment to socialise with others. The Lancashire Cricket Foundation hope that the space will help combat loneliness and lessen the impact of the cost-of-living crisis this winter.

The space will be open every Monday morning from 10am to 1pm starting on Monday 9 January and will run through to 27 March. The Living Room is open to all – but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The initiative is part of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s community programme, which aims to improve health, wellbeing, and educational attainment in communities across Lancashire.

Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s Head of Community Growth, Sandy Mitchell, said: “Many in the local community will be affected by the cost-of-living crisis and hopefully these sessions will provide some respite and allow individuals to enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere.

“It is so important that we, as a wider community, come together during these difficult and uncertain times to provide help and care for the most vulnerable people in the local area.

“By introducing the Living Room, we hope to ease some of the burden placed upon people driving this time and we encourage as many people in the Trafford and Greater Manchester area to make use of our facilities.”

Individuals can register at the main Pavilion Reception at Emirates Old Trafford and will be guided to the Living Room from there. If any further information is required, please contact the Community Programme Manager Daniel Landstrom on dlandstrom@lancashirecricket.co.uk.
