Wakkas Khan is a humanitarian, philanthropist and dental surgeon. His professional career has covered the fields of healthcare, international diplomacy, education and community cohesion, and he has acted as an advisor for various government departments. He has sat on senior-level boards and committees at Oxfam GB, the General Dental Council, University of Manchester, Manchester High School for Girls and The Christie Hospital. He was also the Chair of The Prince's Trust Mosaic North West - a charitable mentoring initiative founded and supported by King Charles III, and the Trustee Unlimited Diversity Panel.
In 2017 in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena Bombing, he founded Young Interfaith - a national grassroots initiative that seeks to bring together young people of all faiths and none to inspire them to collective social action. For the last two years he has led on the collaboration between the Lancashire Cricket Foundation and Young Interfaith to curate the Emirates Old Trafford Iftar; and hopes to build on these endeavour through the Inclusion Advisory Board.
Wakkas qualified in dentistry in 2004. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester in 2019, and was honoured with an MBE for services to young people, to charity and to interfaith relations in the New Year's Honours List 2022
