
Join us on the 28th January 2026 from 2-4pm for a special talk with Dr Michael Collins, this free event will take place in the Members Suite at Emirates Old Trafford, M16 0PX and will include tea and coffee on arrival.
Dr Collins will be discussing his recently published book Windrush Cricket: Imperial Culture, Caribbean Migration, and the Remaking of Postwar England, highlighting key themes and teasing out some of the Lancashire stories featured in his research.

Published by Oxford University Press in September 2025, the book marks the culmination of a five-year project exploring the historical and contemporary significance of cricket for Caribbean migrants to Britain.
About the Speaker
Dr Michael Collins (DPhil, FRHistS) has been Associate Professor of History at UCL since 2016. He previously taught at the University of Oxford, where he completed his doctorate in History in 2009. Before that, he studied the history of political thought at Cambridge and political science at the London School of Economics. Between 2021 and 2024, Dr Collins also served as a commissioner on the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC).
