Lancashire Association of Cricket Officials (LACO)

Lancashire Association of Cricket Officials (LACO)

Whether it’s the spectacle of a First-Class Test match or a recreational game on the local playing field, cricket at all levels depends on the enthusiasm and dedication of its officials.

Who we are, what do we do?

The LACO are the representative body for Umpires and Scorers in Lancashire and are part of the ECB ACO.

LACO appoints umpires to all levels of recreational cricket such as the Lancashire Knock-Out Cup and early stages of the National Club Championship. Working with the LCF, the LACO appoints to over 100 representative fixtures. From U11 Boys to three-day U17 County Championship fixtures, as well as the Women’s County Championship and T20 competitions.

Umpire and Scorer Courses

We are nearing the half way stage of the season and it is hoped that all are enjoying their summer, even if the weather has been disappointing and our judgements on weather and ground fitness have been required more than we would like.  As ever, we are encouraged to “get the game on” wherever conditions are neither dangerous nor unreasonable.  It is also important that we understand the League or Cup regulations regarding loss of time and overs, recalculations and whether DLS or other run rate calculations exist.  Keeping the captains and scorers aware of the situation as things change is an important part of the umpire’s role.

Around the county, courses are being arranged for close season 2019/20.  Confirmed so far:
