County Age Group Awards 2018

Former Lancashire and England wicket keeper, now current head of cricket business at Lancashire Cricket Warren Hegg, hosted the annual Lancashire Cricket Age Group Awards in The Point at Emirates Old Trafford.
The event was held to recognise and celebrate the success of all Lancashire age group team and individual performances during the 2018 season.
Lancashire Cricket also run an age group development program, for players who have exceeded at district level but not quite broken through into County age group teams.
This opportunity allows players to have access to highly qualified coaches and develop their skills against other teams from around the UK.
Awards were presented by current Lancashire players Danny Lamb and Eve Jones to individuals for exceptional performances, starting at the Under-10 category, ranging through to the Under-19’s.
The Lancashire age group pathway is a strategic programme developed to assist Lancashire cricket produce the next generation of home grown cricketers from the bottom upwards.
Current Lancashire players Liam Livingston, Alex Davies, Matt Parkinson and Haseeb Hameed have all come through this system and have gone on to represent England.
Sam Dorsey from the under- 17’s Boys picked up the Boys Player of The Year Award, scoring 721 runs at an average of 72 with a top score of 230 against Derbyshire.
Olivia Thomas from the under- 17’s girls picked up the Girls Player of The Year Award. At the age of 14 she topped the wickets table with 24 wickets at an economy rate of 3.2
