We're celebrating #InternationalWomensDay by taking a look into the thriving women's and girls' cricket section at Wavertree Cricket Club
Wavertree Women at Wavertree Cricket Club
Current women's and girls' offering at your club:
- Under 9s - (Development),
- Under 13s - (Softball)
- Under 15s - (Softball with a number also attending hardball nets sessions),
- Women's (Softball and hardball)
Established women's and girls' set-up since: The girls have being playing games as Wavertree for a number of years starting with indoor cricket at schools then playing against local clubs once or twice each year. Wavertree CC have attracted girls participants from school programmes to add to these numbers as well as girls bringing their friends and siblings. One of the Club's coaches, Sam leads the award winning Chance2Shine Liverpool Girls Street programme which is a route to recruitment although many of the girls came to the club via this route yet still access the Street Programme during the winter months

Goals for the future: To have a comprehensive Girls and women's section that is recognised for how it operates and the achievements of both individuals and teams and be known as a welcoming club. To be valued by the local community and working with schools and other organisations re girls and women's cricket. Increase the amount of women coaches leading the club's operations, as well as women being involved in the management and development of this area of the club's menu of cricket offers. To have Wavertree CC's girls and women representing sub-regional and county teams
