Lancashire Cricket Foundation statement: Recreational cricket permitted to continue in Oldham

Recreational cricket permitted to continue in Oldham

The Lancashire Cricket Foundation can confirm that after positive discussions with Oldham Council, as well as the England and Wales Cricket Board, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and the Greater Manchester Cricket League (GMCL) in recent days, recreational cricket in Oldham will continue despite the recent COVID-19 developments in the area.

Club cricket will continue this weekend under ECB Stage 4 adapted gameplay, as part of the most recent Government guidelines, but the Lancashire Cricket Foundation and the ECB encourages all involved including players, parents and volunteers to strictly adhere to public guidance, as well as the guidance issued by the ECB to recreational cricket clubs over the last few weeks.

We are pleased that recreational cricket has been permitted to safely continue in the Oldham area, but we once again urge the cricket community to follow all public health advice and guidance.
