Lancashire Cricket Foundation's virtual cricket delivery during lockdown

Virtual lockdown cricket sessions broadcast into homes and schools across Lancashire

Cricket has continued to be beamed into classrooms and homes during the latest lockdown with Lancashire Cricket Foundation Coaches delivering virtual coaching sessions.

Schools across the county have been taking advantage of technology and coaches skillset to take part in the active sessions based around the core principals of cricket.

Pupils both in school and at home have been able to come together on the live calls to participate in the fun, fast and engaging sessions.

The sessions have complimented the weekly national Chance to Shine Live sessions and have kept schools interested in cricket and children taking part in physical activity.

Lancashire Cricket Foundation Coaches have ensured flexible session via school led technology such as Teams and Zoom, children have only required limited space and equipment, with children getting creative with what cricket equipment to use at home and in school whilst live on the session. Lancashire Cricket coaches have used ‘keys to success’ as tips and leading batting, bowling and fielding drills.

Joshua Curragh, Teacher at Trinity St Peters Primary, Formby said: “It has been a challenging time for the children and staff – and these sessions have given us a real lift. It’s fantastic to see the class coming together playing cricket and it’s a great example to our children in the current climate that our pupils can still safe active and engage in sport.”

“Talk of cricket and the forthcoming summer has kept the children engaged and I’m sure we will see more of the boys and girls at our two nearest clubs this summer.”
