Lancashire Knockout Cup 2021: First Round Preview

Lancashire Knockout Cup 2021: First Round Preview

The 2021 Lancashire Knockout Cup gets underway this Sunday (23 May)

The first round of the Lancashire Knockout Cup takes place this Sunday, 23 May, with success in an Emirates Old Trafford Final the end goal for the 32 clubs who qualified to take part this summer.

Lancashire Cricket Foundation is delighted to confirm that the final of the Lancashire Knockout Cup will be on Sunday 22 August at Emirates Old Trafford - with Westhoughton Cricket Club of the Bolton Cricket League ready to host reserve dates in September should that be needed due to any poor weather in late August.

There are 16 exciting ties following the draw that was conducted by Glen Chapple and Keaton Jennings during the winter.

Ormskirk CC take on Lowerhouse CC in a repeat of the 2017 Emirates Old Trafford Final whilst defending champions Norden CC take on Blackpool CC who have one of the richest histories in the competition. You can watch that fixture live via: youtube.com/channel/UCiwalx733wRhCzeFHKlEkQA.

The competitions most decorated team, Bootle CC, take on Croston CC and there are a number of local derbies involving clubs from the same league such as Walkden CC v Farnworth CC from the Bolton Cricket League and Padiham CC v Settle CC who both play in the Ribblesdale Cricket League.

Winners in 2018 and runners up in 2019, Darwen CC take on Kearsley CC whilst many will be looking with interest involving another Lancashire League club as Burnley CC host Bawali Shreef CC from the Greater Manchester Amateur Cricket League.

Our thanks go to the Lancashire Association of Cricket Officials for their support in appointing umpires for the competition and of course all the competing clubs, players and volunteers who play such a key role in making a success of the Knockout Cup.

You can follow progress of the competition here: Lancashire Cricket Foundation Competitions (play-cricket.com).

Good luck to everyone for Sunday and beyond.
