Trafford Leadership Academy Day 2021
The Trafford Primary Leadership Academy took place at Emirates Old Trafford recently.
The Primary Leadership Academy which is working in partnership alongside the Lancashire Cricket Foundation is designed to support the most talented young leaders.
Howard Shore, Community Programme Manager at the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, said ‘ we do this partnership to try and give them a chance to raise the profile of PE and sport in their schools and we’re using Lancashire Cricket as an iconic brand and these wonderful facilities to feel inspired and confident to go back and lead activities in their schools. It’s been good to see the children being receptive to what we’re doing we’re giving them a little bit of the ideas, of this is what you could do and they’re just going off and running with it to make it work for their children when they go back to their schools’.
There was a number of workshops that was set up around Emirates Old Trafford including a ground tour, while first team player Rob Jones was in attendance at the event.
Kay Statham, Partnership Development Manager at the Healthy Learning Trust said ‘the children were lucky enough to have Rob Jones come and talk to the children, which they absolutely loved. Seeing one of their role models.’
Statham added ‘we followed it on with three workshops, so we have what makes an effective sports leader. We have a practical workshop and we have a tour of the grounds so that the young people can be inspired by the facility today. We hope to inspire the young people, we hope to equip them with them skills that they will need to go back to schools and to support their teachers with a task list before we come back together for a graduation in June’.
