We're continuing to celebrate #WomensCricketMonth during September by profiling a series of clubs across Lancashire who are currently hosting women's and girls' cricket activity... next up, it's Leyland Cricket Club
Leyland Ladies at Leyland Cricket Club
Current women's and girls' offering at your club: Women's First and Second XIs, Junior Under 13s and Under 15s who enter Lady Taverners National HardballT20 Competition, and also an Under 13s softball team
Established women's and girls' set-up since: The club started female training in the winter of 2016 and their first season was in 2017. Leyland CC decided as club that they needed to do something, as they had a strong number of girls coming through their junior mixed teams who were aged 13 to 15, who wanted to play girls only cricket alongside the mixed teams
Key people involved with women's and girls' cricket: Abi Bates - Head Coach, First Team captain, organiser, motivator, everything! Arwel Pozzi - the unsung hero. Without Arwel's hardwork, Leyland Ladies would not have progressed as far as they have today!
Goals for next season: Next season the club want to continue with the amazing progress they have already made, further establish their Second XI as a development squad, enter Under 13 and Under 15 hardball teams into the Lancashire Junior girls leagues and ensure as many women and girls can access cricket at Leyland CC.
