Lancashire D40 Player James Dixon Selected for England Deaf Cricket Team

In a remarkable achievement, James Dixon, a player from the Lancashire D40 team, was selected to join the England Deaf Cricket team. This selection marks a milestone in Dixon's cricketing career, opening up new opportunities and challenges on the international stage.

James Dixon’s introduction to cricket was influenced by his family’s passion for the sport. “We’ve always watched and played cricket together,” James recalled. His early years were spent learning the basics, starting at the age of four with a tennis ball. By seven, he had advanced to playing in the junior age groups at his local club. His dedication and skill saw him progress rapidly, joining the senior club level by the age of 13.

James said: "I am feeling honoured to be awarded the man of the match with my batting performance to helped England won the first game of the T20 series by DLS after hitting 24 runs not out while batting at number 10, and it had been a long time to received the man of the match award since Dubai 2016. Now, it was really tough and massive challenging T20 series against India Deaf after losing to them 2-5. I have been playing for England Deaf Cricket since 2005 with my debut with them in Deaf Cricket World Cup 2005 in Lucknow, India, and still currently playing for them for more than 17 years."

James’s primary strength lies in his bowling. “My main strength is bowling,” he stated. “I am a natural seam bowler and can bat. Depending on the format, it dictates where I bat in the order.” His versatility and talent have made him a valuable player for the Lancashire D40 team and now for the national squad.

This year, James took part in the Deaf T20s international series against India with the England Deaf Cricket team, his journey from a young boy playing with a tennis ball to representing England on the deaf cricket team is truly inspirational.
