Training and Games Underway For Urban Inter League Squads
On Sunday 30th June, 16 players from the Under 14s Lancashire Cricket Foundation ‘Urban’ Inter League squad took to the field in an Intra Squad T20 fixture.
The Pathway For All now includes Inter League teams for cricketers from our community-based programmes such as Chance to Shine Street, MCCF Hubs, Lord Taverners Wicketz and the ACE programme. Coaches from those groups, clubs and hubs have been nominated players and the squads are preparing well ahead of the competitive Inter League structure.
Sunday’s teams prepared as they would for an Inter League game and the day resulted in an evenly matched game with 230 runs scored and 12 wickets falling. The outing means 37 young people have taken part in either training sessions or games at the programmes base at Farnworth Social Circle Cricket Club.
The teams formed were The Renegades, captained by Umer Sarfraz MCCF Manchester and The Originals led by Freddie Todd (MCCF Bolton). Umer’s side batted firstly and ultimately won an entertaining game.
The Renegades hit 130 from their allotted over with Nial Masawi (ACE Liverpool) and Lakhan Kapour (MCCF Manchester) putting on an excellent opening stand. William Bradley (MCC Bolton) added a flurry of runs late on supported well by Lucien William (ACE Manchester).
Josh Robinson (MCCF Liverpool), Daanyaal Mehmood (MCCF Bolton) & Musa Janneh (ACE Manchester) & Shahas Ahmed (MCC Manchester) all bowled smart spells of seam throughout the morning.
Spinners Reuben Roots (MCC Liverpool) and Raees Ahmed (MCC Manchester) showed plenty of guile against some aggressive batting. Isaac Lamey (MCC Bolton) came in from the U12s to show his wicketkeeping skills and Charlie Davies (MCCF Liverpool) was equally as comfortable behind the sticks.
The squads are blending well and looking forward to their next challenge.
