D40 Training Session with Ellie Threlkeld

Two weeks ago, the D40 team had the exciting opportunity to host Ellie Threlkeld for an afternoon at PA Cricket. Ellie, with her huge experience in sports psychology, spent time chatting with several squad members, offering her insights on how to enhance their performance both mentally and physically on the field.

Not only did Ellie share her expertise off the field, but she also lent a hand behind the wickets, working closely with the keepers to sharpen their skills. The session was both practical and fun, with the bowlers given the challenge of hitting key target areas on the pitch. Any loose deliveries were met with a fitness punishment, a bit of a challenge for the squad, but one that kept everyone sharp and focused.

The real twist was in the reward system. Instead of the bowlers taking on the punishment for poor shots, the coaches themselves had to face the consequences. Fair play to the squad for holding their ground – by the end of the session, even the coach’s arms were starting to feel the burn!

Looking ahead, the team is gearing up for another action-packed weekend. On Saturday, they’ll be at Emirates Old Trafford, focusing on running between the wickets, and Sunday will see them in the nets, honing their batting skills.

For those interested in joining the squads for both the D40 and Super 9s, there's still a chance to get involved! Reach out to J Hughes at jhughes@lancashirecricket.co.uk for more details.
