Lancashire Cricket Foundation Kicks Off Pre-Season with Club Support, Volunteer Recognition and Community Growth
Beyond the Boundary, our in-augural pre-season league, club and teams event was held on Sunday 16th February at Emirates Old Trafford. Volunteers from across the County were invited to attend to find out more information about a range of topics that will help them as clubs, teams and individuals.
The topics included:
Club support offered by LCF
Funding and opportunity via ECB
Safeguarding, Anti discrimination and EDI support
Women and girls, Community programmes, Inclusion, Development Centres and Holiday Camps.
Lancashire Line - our Lottery product for clubs
Using Dynamos to start a girls section, Liverpool 8 - Community cricket projects.
We were joined by Flicx Pitches and Give Back Drinks both able to support clubs to enhance their offering, through roll out pitches or fundraising through personalised point of sale for drinks.
We were delighted to also recognise our volunteers, Peter Mcdermid of Trimpell CC receiving National Recognition in Lifetime Achievement category and Tarleton CC - who were National Winners in the Cricket Innovators category! We also had Sarah John (Sefton Park C.C.) National Recognition for The Metro Bank Champion of Girls Cricket who received her award on Saturday at the Thunder Coaching event.
The event also gave clubs the opportunity to speak with others perhaps trying to solve similar issues or have done so previously along with conversations with the LCF team.
Feedback from the event:
'Thanks for the great event, really encouraging to see so many other progressive and proactive clubs and partners in the room dedicated in making club cricket safe, accessible and fun for all.'
'Brilliant afternoon. Really informative, useful and helpful. Many thanks'
'Thank you so much for the invite, the event was really enjoyable and informative!
We took away lost of info and have already made enquiries to Lancashire Line lottery.'
Jen Barden Executive Director commented 'It was a fantastic afternoon, one I really enjoyed, hearing from the team, listening to conversations being had and generally the enthusiasm in the room for the start of the season! We have over 252 cricket clubs in Lancashire, a huge cricket playing population and one that relies heavily on volunteers. We know we need more people to lend a hand in various roles across the County, by supporting those volunteers already involved and putting plans into action on recruiting further through programmes like the Young officials, Young volunteers and Youth Board we hope to support clubs even further. I wish all the clubs and teams a fantastic 2025 season '.
