Lancashire Cricket Foundation Partner with West Lancashire Sport Partnership

Lancashire Cricket Foundation (LCF) are delighted to announce an official partnership with West Lancashire Sport Partnership (WLSP). This collaboration ensures more children and young people across West Lancashire receive expert cricket provision to improve lives and create stronger, healthier communities across the area.

The LCF and WLSP have previously undergone a successful collaboration but this new formal partnership legitimises the shared goals of the two organisations for the 2024-25 academic year.

The partnership will support an additional engagement of approximately 30 schools and 5000 pupils across both primary, secondary and special educational needs establishments across West Lancashire. This partnership is in addition to our successful Chance to Shine and Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) school-based delivery.

The WLSP team of highly experienced Teachers and School Sport Specialists already provide fantastic opportunities for children and young people to develop the whole child and support whole school improvement through sport and physical activity. With this official partnership now in place the aim is to support their striking and fielding provision to support a life-long love of cricket.

James Carr, Lancashire Cricket Foundation Cricket Development Officer for the West Lancashire region spearheaded this partnership. He said “It’s great that cricket and the brand of the red rose can play a part in the early development of PE and physical activity for young people, with the added bonus of cricket being visible and a viable sporting opportunity for all. I’m really please we can collaborate with a like-minded organisation that put children and the physical and social development at the heart of what they do”

Mark Forster - Director of Community & Partnership at Endeavour Learning Trust, who host the West Lancashire Sport Partnership commented: "We are thrilled to officially partner with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation to expand the reach of high-quality cricket provision across West Lancashire. At WLSP, we are passionate about using sport to develop the whole child and create meaningful opportunities for all young people. This collaboration allows us to enhance our striking and fielding curriculum, inspiring a new generation to enjoy and engage with cricket while supporting their physical, social, and emotional development. We greatly value this new partnership and look forward to working together to make a lasting impact in schools and communities across the region.

Jordan Clarke, Schools Development Manager said, ‘We’re always eager to partner with organisation who have shared goals of positively impacting children and young peoples lives through sport and physical activity. We are hugely excited to be working alongside Mark (Forster), Matt (Tuffs) and the team at WLSP on this partnership and are committed to ensuring that more young people can access quality experiences of sport provision to help maintain healthy and active lifestyles through cricket’.
