Leyland CC Crowned ECB National T20 Plate Winners 2025
Leyland Cricket Club have been crowned ECB National T20 Plate Champions 2025, completing a six-round campaign that ended in glory at the Wormsley Estate this August.
After overcoming local opposition in the opening rounds, Leyland progressed through regional fixtures with consistent all-round performances. Highlights included Lowri Whittaker’s six wickets with the new ball and key batting contributions from Grace Nuttall, Charlotte Whitaker, Izzy Cordingley, and Olivia Cunliffe.
The regional final at Denby CC, Derbyshire, saw Leyland restrict Berkswell CC to 99/8 before recovering from 69–5 to secure victory and a place in the national final.
At Wormsley, Leyland faced Falkland CC in front of strong support from both sides. Asked to field first, Leyland fought back from a rapid start by Falkland to hold them to 139–7, thanks to disciplined bowling from Isla Simpson, Izzy Cordingley, and Olivia Cunliffe, and sharp fielding led by Abi Bates’ three catches.
The run chase will be remembered for a single, extraordinary innings. Olivia Cunliffe struck an unbeaten 102 from 67 balls, steering Leyland to a historic national title with overs to spare.
“This victory is the result of months of dedication, teamwork and belief,” said the club. “Every player has contributed to this journey, and lifting the trophy is a moment the squad and supporters will cherish.”
Leyland CC’s achievement marks a proud milestone for the club and a source of inspiration for the next generation of players.
