Thunder Cup Match Report - 26th April
A full programme of fixtures in the Women’s North West Competition Thunder Cup delivered high-scoring encounters, standout individual performances, and one unfortunate concession. The competition is supported by Destination Sport, whose involvement is helping to drive the continued delivery and growth of the Women’s Thunder Cup.
Lindow CC Women beat Didsbury CC Women
Lindow CC Women secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Didsbury at Moor Lane with a strong all-round display.
Didsbury were bowled out for 170, with Isabel Ellsmore producing an excellent 71 from 51 balls to anchor the innings. However, regular wickets prevented them from building sustained momentum, as Grace Hemsted and Faye Smith both claimed three wickets apiece for Lindow.
In reply, Heidi Cheadle led the chase superbly, striking 78 from 72 balls to guide her side to 171-4 in 26.4 overs. Despite a brief spell of resistance from Didsbury, Lindow remained firmly in control to complete a comfortable win.
Ramsbottom CC Women beat Edgworth CC Women
Ramsbottom CC Women produced an impressive run chase to defeat Edgworth by six wickets at The Rigbys.
Edgworth posted a competitive 198 all out, led by Umaiza Basharat’s 47, with Alexandra Ross (27) and Eve Murray (26) adding valuable contributions. Ramsbottom’s bowlers kept things disciplined, with Evie Bennett returning outstanding figures of 4-31.
The chase was dominated by Manvi Rajshetty, who played a superb innings of 86 from 72 balls. Well supported by Bryony Gledhill (42), the pair put Ramsbottom in control as they reached 199-6 in 31.4 overs to seal victory.
Leyland CC Women beat Leigh CC Women
Leyland CC Women came out on top in a high-scoring contest at Croston Cricket Club, chasing down their target with six wickets in hand.
Leigh were bowled out for 199, with Georgina Macey starring with an excellent 82. Leyland’s bowling attack shared the wickets, with Hannah Cook and Isla Simpson both taking three apiece.
In response, Leyland’s innings was measured and composed. Katie Poole anchored the chase with an unbeaten 64, while Abigail Bates added an unbeaten 43 to guide their side home at 201-4 in 32 overs.
Stockport Georgians CC Women awarded victory
Stockport Georgians CC Women were awarded the win after Sefton Park CC Women conceded the fixture.
The match did not take place, with Georgians receiving full points.

Rajshetty produced the most impactful innings of the round under pressure, pacing the chase superbly while maintaining an aggressive scoring rate (15 fours). Her knock ensured Ramsbottom remained in control with the result still in the balance.
