Urban Inter League Showcases Rising Talent from Community Cricket
The Lancashire Cricket Foundation Urban Inter League is creating exciting new opportunities for young cricketers involved in our community programmes. Designed to give players a platform to develop and demonstrate their skills, the competition has quickly become a vital part of the grassroots cricket pathway.
So far, 107 players have taken part in 46 Urban Cricket games, including friendly fixtures and Inter League matches. These games not only provide valuable experience but also allow coaches to identify future talent from across Lancashire.
Two standout stories from our LCF Inter League Under 11s squad highlight the impact of the programme:
Yahya, a young player from the Chance to Shine Street programme in Blackburn, recently made his debut for the LCF Under 11s Inter League side. After impressing coaches at the Regional Tapeball Finals in Bolton, Yahya seized his opportunity in the Urban Inter League game, delivering a strong bowling performance and scoring a well-crafted 17 runs with the bat against Wigan Junior League.
Isaac, another promising player, featured in his first ever hardball match for the Lancashire Cricket Foundation. Recommended by his CTS Street coaches in Manchester, Isaac showed great composure and skill, delivering excellent pace bowling and marking a successful start to his hardball cricket journey.
These inspiring stories are just a snapshot of how our community cricket programmes are creating real pathways for young people to engage with the game and take their first steps into competitive cricket. The Urban Inter League continues to be a celebration of emerging talent, community spirit and the power of sport to transform lives.
