Sunday 21st July

Yorkshire D40 – 215/8

Finneran 3/40

Khan 2/34

Lancashire D40 – 263/7

Meskell 121no

Collinge 100

Lancashire win by 48 runs, following the highs of last season, this season has been very tough for the Disability Squad but we managed to finish the league season on a high by once again claiming bragging rights in the war of the roses.

We were able to field more of our established 1st team squad for the first time this season.

An early set back saw Skipper Finneran removed bring Meskell to the crease to partner Collinge. The pair scored 190 for the 2nd wicket both scoring freely and rotating strike not allowing the bowlers to settle into their stride.

As Kristian departed Aaron O’Neill was able to add some valuable runs to the score whilst others all chipped in and supported Tom as the score closed on 263.

Robert Wight and Matthew Tamburro made a good start with the ball, restricting the home sides chase and were close on many occasions to finding the breakthrough.

The breakthrough came to the bowling of star man Tom Meskell, when Debutant Lewis Brown held his nerve to take a catch in the covers.

The experienced pairing of Waqass Khan and Adam Finneran picked up wickets at Valuable times of the game as the hosts tried their best to chase down the target. The removal of Clayton swung the game back to the Red Rose, as Jack Fisher produced a spell of left arm spin that he has been developing all winter.

Everyone of the squad put in a real performance throughout the day to help their team come away with the spoils

Our season continues with several development games throughout the county, Firwood Bootle CC, Stretford CC, Ribblesdale Wanderers CC and Warton CC on our list of fixtures and we also have opportunities for other fixtures as well

Feel free to get in touch if you would be interested in hosting our future stars, as we look to spread the word and grow the game for Disability Cricket in the North West - john.hughes@cumbriacricket.co.uk
