Healthy Heart
Lanky’s guide to a healthy heart is a workshop aimed at Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The workshop’s aims are to instil heart-healthy lifestyle habits at a young age. The workshop is delivered around a PowerPoint presentation, with group activities/games and fits well into the learning of key stage 2 science and healthy living subjects at school.
The first part of the session is about the heart and how it works and the second part of the session is about the main ways to keep your heart healthy, which covers diet, exercise and No Smoking. The children will also make a fruit kebab and take part in a 1 hour kwik cricket activity.
The sessions take place at Emirates Old Trafford in the Player and Media Centre. This itself is a great experience for the children as this building is not open to members of the public.
The day is based on a 10am start – 2pm finish.

The sessions are all led by a qualified dietician. They are fun, interactive and include visits by past players to talk about their lifestyle and diet as a professional athlete. A healthy recipe book has been produced in conjunction with the families attending, Foundation Ambassadors and Lancashire Cricket Players and is packed full of healthy ideas for family meals. Please take a look at the PDF and enjoy.
