U11 and U13 aspiring South Asian cricketers are wanted as a part of the Cricket Community Talent Programme.

Community Talent Champion Programme - Lancashire

Farouk Hussain and Rashid Hussain have been appointed as the Community Talent Champions for Lancashire, a project that sees Lancashire Cricket working with the ECB and the National Asian Cricket Council to improve connection between South Asian communities playing in non-affiliated cricket environments and the existing talent pathway. Lancashire, Yorkshire and Leicestershire will initially pilot the programme with a view to a successful roll out thereafter.

The ECB South Asian Action Plan (SAAP) identified a lack of South Asian representation in professional cricket and the need to improve the balance at each stage of the talent pathway (County Age Group, Academies, 1st team squads). The action plan also identified a number of reasons behind this disparity at each stage (e.g. cultural differences, education pressures and unconscious bias). Farouk and Rashid are trusted members of the South Asian cricketing community and will work mainly in urban areas, with the ECB and Lancashire Cricket providing training around Talent ID as they will be responsible for identifying key talent and also bridging the cultural divide over the next few years.

In Lancashire we are currently seeking nominations and scouting players at U11 and U13 level across the cricket network with assessments, coaching and fixtures taking place from late July through to September. The aim is to form squads of players who can play appropriate fixtures against clubs, Inter League sides and those already involved at County Age Group level.
