#WomensCricketMonth: Urmston CC

Throughout September, we're celebrating #WomensCricketMonth by profiling a series of clubs across Lancashire who are currently hosting women's and girls' cricket activity... next up, it's Urmston Cricket Club

Urmston Cricket Club

Current women's and girls' offering at your club: For the 2020 season, Urmston have run junior girls Hardball teams at Under 15s and Under 13s. They also have girls playing in their Under 9s and Under 11s mixed teams.

Established women's and girls' set-up since: It started about 6 years ago with a few keen girls playing in the club's boys Under 9s and, gradually, they added to the group and started to run all girls teams four years ago. Last season they ran women's softball training which proved popular

Key people involved with women's and girls' cricket: Rob Arnold is the girls' coach and organiser. He is supported by parents and, occasionally, other coaches from the club.

Goals for the future: The club feel that they are at a critical stage in their development and need to move on to starting a women's hardball team at some level for the 2021 season, as well as continuing the development of junior girls cricket and softball cricket. They need to attract some more senior hardball players to the club to support the development of our talented juniors and need more support for the coaches within the main club
