Board Governance Statement
The Lancashire Cricket Foundation is committed to maintaining the highest standards of governance, ensuring that the organisation operates with integrity, transparency and accountability in all that it does.
The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Foundation and for ensuring that its resources are applied effectively to deliver its charitable objectives. In doing so, the Board adheres to the principles of good governance as set out by the Charity Commission and aligns with the governance expectations of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and other key partners.
Our Board comprises individuals with a broad and complementary range of expertise, including governance, finance, elite and grassroots cricket, education, community development, safeguarding, and equality, diversity and inclusion. This breadth of experience enables robust decision-making and ensures that the Foundation remains responsive to the diverse communities it serves.
Strong governance structures are in place to oversee risk management, financial control, safeguarding, and organisational performance. The Board places particular importance on safeguarding and welfare, maintaining rigorous oversight to ensure that all participants can engage in cricket in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
The Board works in close partnership with the executive team, providing both strategic support and appropriate challenge. This constructive relationship ensures clarity of purpose, effective delivery against strategic priorities, and the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
Collaboration is central to our approach. We work closely with the ECB, Lancashire Cricket Club, local authorities, schools, clubs, and a wide range of community partners to maximise impact and create accessible opportunities for participation across Lancashire.
The Foundation is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and seeks to ensure that its leadership reflects and understands the communities it serves. The Board actively promotes inclusive practices and works to remove barriers to participation in cricket at all levels.
We are committed to continuous improvement and regularly review our governance arrangements, policies and Board effectiveness to ensure they remain fit for purpose and aligned with best practice.
Through strong, responsible governance, the Board is dedicated to supporting the Lancashire Cricket Foundation in delivering sustainable growth in the game and positive social impact across Lancashire.
